Fien Bouwmeester completed the master’s degree in juvenile law at Leiden University. Her focus was on family law. She wrote her thesis on the role of the judge in parental access conflicts. At the University of British Columbia in Vancouver (Canada), Fien immersed herself in Canadian family law and private international law.
