Alexander is an international divorce lawyer with vast experience in litigation. He is often involved in dispute litigation and specialises in asset allocation in divorce situations for both national and international HNW clients. He holds the highest accreditation in the Netherlands on Private International Law (cum laude).

International Practice

Alexander has expertise in international divorce forum and jurisdictional disputes on divorce. As an international divorce lawyer, he advises lawyers and individuals abroad on Dutch family and procedural law. He is also available for a second opinion, advice on the interpretation of prenups, alimony issues and international child abduction / relocation cases. Alexander is a specialized child abduction lawyer, a member of the Dutch Association of International Child Abduction Lawyers (DIAL). He is regularly instructed by parents in child abduction proceedings (Hague and non–Hague).

In addition to his work as an international divorce lawyer, Alexander is a divorce mediator. He has extensive experience in the use of new media in mediation. He is fully qualified as a vFAS divorce mediator and a Collaborative Divorce Lawyer (VvCP). Alexander was a board member of the ‘Mediators federatie Nederland’, MfN: the Dutch Mediators Federation, until vFAS left the federation in 2022.

Alexander is an international divorce and child abduction lawyer with extensive experience. His approach to cases is characterised by his decisiveness and efficiency, without losing sight of the emotional aspects. Clients describe Alexander as professional and committed.

President vFAS and IMFO

Between 2018 and May 2023 Alexander was the president of the Dutch Association of Family and Succession Lawyers – Divorce Mediators (vFAS) and the president of the Institute for Mediation and Family Law Education (IMFO), the educational institute of vFAS (0,6 fte). In 2019 he co-founded the vocational training private international law for vFAS lawyers (50 CPD). On behalf of vFAS Alexander was a member of numerous committees.

In 2016 Alexander was appointed as an Officer of the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA).

Alexander has been elected a fellow of the IAFL (International Academy of Family Lawyers). IAFL is a worldwide association of practising lawyers who are recognised by their peers as the most experienced and skilled family law specialists in their respective countries.
